Values & Reflections: Navigating the Daily Hustle to Deliver Top Quality and Customer Satisfaction

Running a business is a constant balancing act—there’s no question about it. Every day brings its own set of challenges, and as CEO of ShoreBags, the demands on my time and focus are unrelenting. Where should my energy be directed? Am I focusing on the right areas to grow the business? How do I make sure I'm engaging with customers in a way that’s authentic and meaningful without being overbearing?

These are the questions that run through my mind daily. But reflecting on what I’ve learned is equally, if not more important, than putting in the daily work. Many of you are in the same boat, so I wanted to share some of what I've learned.

Striking the Balance: Visibility Without Annoyance

One of the biggest challenges in leading a brand like ShoreBags is balancing visibility with relevance. How do I ensure that we’re getting in front of customers enough to stay on their radar, but not so much that they feel bombarded? It’s a delicate dance—customers need to know we’re here, actively working to deliver products they love, but we want to avoid coming across as too forceful or sales-driven.

I’ve learned that authenticity is key. Customers respond well to brands that provide real value, not just in terms of products, but in terms of communication. Rather than focusing on constant promotions, we’ve shifted to delivering content and updates that feel useful and engaging. This builds trust and reinforces the idea that we are not just selling bags—we’re providing a solution that fits seamlessly into their lives. 

What Are Customers Really Looking For?

Over the past nine years, running ShoreBags has taught me a lot about our customers. While pricing is always a factor, our clients—especially our loyal, repeat buyers—put quality first and foremost. They are looking for more than just a fashionable bag; they want a product that’s beautifully made, durable, and worth the investment.

This is where our brand truly shines. We’re not just selling bags; we’re offering well-crafted, high-end products that stand the test of time. Our classic designs appeal to customers who appreciate a casual yet refined look that works in a variety of settings. Whether for a beach day, a work commute, or a weekend getaway, our bags are versatile and made to last. That’s why we’ve chosen to focus on unisex, casual, and high-quality bags—because that’s what our customers consistently come back for.

The People Behind the Product: Hiring the Best

A key part of maintaining this level of quality is having the right team in place. We’ve made it a priority to hire skilled artisans, factory workers, and fast learners who understand the importance of top-notch workmanship. Our commitment to paying a fair wage ensures that we retain this talent and that their expertise is reflected in every new style we develop.

This is something we’re extremely proud of at ShoreBags. We know that there are other brands out there—some of which offer lower-priced options—but we refuse to compromise on the quality of our workmanship or raw materials. Our customers can trust that they are getting the best, and that’s a promise we intend to keep.
