Frequently Asked Questions

ORDERING

How do I get started?

We no longer require a minimum order amount! All orders must be paid by check (shipments go out after checks clear) or credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express).

Could I get a sample?

Samples are available without a minimum order. Samples are charged at wholesale cost and we can typically send them out in 3-5 business days. Shipping costs apply. Samples are non-returnable.

Uh oh . . . can I cancel my order?

All orders are considered final. If an order must be cancelled, please submit a request via email to info@shorebags.com. Please note: Custom orders cannot be cancelled.

What about returns?

ShoreBags accepts returns for defective bags only. Non-defective returns are against our commitment to sustainability and produce waste so please purchase thoughtfully. We do not refund shipping costs paid.

Personalized products: We offer beautiful embroidery and silkscreening to personalize your bags, and we hope you’ll understand that these orders are carefully crafted just for you and cannot be cancelled or returned. If you order personalized goods, we will prepare a proof for your review prior to executing the design and once you approve the proof in writing, we hope you’re going to love it. We can’t make any changes after your approval.

INDEMNIFICATION: What’s that?

Customer warrants that it has the right to use the marks, symbols, or designs depicted in the artwork and shall indemnify, defend, and hold Shore Bags, its officers, shareholders, employees, and agents harmless from and against any claims, damages, and costs, including attorney fees, in any infringement actions as a result of printing the artwork supplied by customers.

What if I see a little something that looks different?

Due to circumstances beyond our control and due to variances of materials, there may be minor variations in shade, color, size, texture or construction from lot to lot. It is the nature of natural canvas and jute to have small knots, threads and spots. Most of our canvas is heavyweight and you may find imperfect stitching and seams. This is part of the process when working with natural materials and is one of the characteristics that make handmade, small batch goods so unique. We hope you'll embrace these irregularities and be proud of supporting less waste and more hand work in these beautiful products.

SHIPPING

We ship anywhere in the US, including US territories, via PO boxes, street addresses, or APO/FPO addresses. If you live outside the US and would like to place an order, please contact us at info@shorebags.com and we can determine the best method and cost of delivery for you.

When and how will my ShoreBags order arrive?

We strive to ship out all stock orders within 3 to 5 business days. If you’re ordering a monogram or have a custom order, shipments typically leave our warehouse within 10 business days. With large orders, or more complex personalizations, this may be extended a few days, but we’ll be sure to let you know.

We are not be liable for delays in delivery of an order due to customs, shipping delays or natural disasters.

We ship goods using FedEx Standard Ground or UPS Ground, so if you live in the lower 48 states, you can expect your shipment to arrive within 3 to 5 business days after the shipment leaves our offices. During the Covid-19 pandemic, these times have occasionally been longer. For Hawaii, Alaska, and the US territories, shipments generally take 5 to 7 business days. Exact delivery times can be found on the shipping company’s website page.

What if I need it faster?

We may be able to accommodate faster shipping using overnight services, so contact us at info@shorebags.com and we can talk about options and costs. It’s not always possible, but we'll do everything we can to accommodate these requests.

What if my shipment arrives damaged or incomplete or something’s wrong?

Let us know within 72 hours of receiving your shipment if something’s amiss. Get in touch at info@shorebags.com or call 219-286-4628. If we messed up, we’ll do everything we can to make it right, and if the shipper or other forces are at work, we’ll work with you to figure out the best solution.

We stand by the quality of our bags and believe in providing a great customer experience. We will absolutely accept return requests due to workmanship or material issues. Again, we do not accept non-defective returns.

With defective returns, because we are small and our bags are heavyweight, we do not offer an open window to return a bag if it has been used. We will work with you to find the best solution. Unfortunately, personalized and custom items cannot be returned or exchanged.

CLEANING & MAINTENANCE

ShoreBags are made to be tough and long-lasting. We know our customers are active, busy multi-taskers -- a lifestyle that can lead to messes and accidents. Outings to the grocery store or farmers market, beach or just a family get together can mean spills, drips and spots on your natural canvas ShoreBag. What to do?

Even though we have had some customers share with us that they have machine-washed their ShoreBag with solid results, we recommend spot cleaning. Here's how:

Remove surface dirt. Use a dry, soft-bristled brush, such as an old toothbrush, to brush off any loose dirt on the canvas.

Mix a cleaning solution. Use a mild detergent mixed with water as a cleaning solution. A gentle body soap, dishwashing soap, or a small amount of laundry detergent are all good options. Using your brush, mix the water and soap until some bubbles start to form.

Scrub the surface. Dip your brush into the soapy water mixture and scrub the dirty areas of the bag, moving the brush in a circular motion to thoroughly loosen the dirt and remove the stains.
  • Continue dipping the brush into the soapy water mixture as you tackle any stained areas of the bag.
  • It's okay to saturate the canvas with the soapy water solution, but if your bag has leather or metal hardware, try your best to keep those dry. If you do get the leather and other hardware wet, don't worry. Most of our styles use water-resistant leather, which is not the same as waterproof, but can handle minimal exposure to water. Best bet would be to dry the non-canvas parts and wipe them as soon as possible to avoid any damage.
Rinse the stain. You can rinse the scrubbed spot of the bag by running it under a small stream of water from a faucet.
  • A small stream will ensure you gently rinse off the soapy solution without getting water all over the rest of the bag.
Dry the stain. Once the stain and spots are cleaned, blot them dry with a paper towel or cloth to soak up any remaining water. Then allow the bag to dry naturally.
  • NOTE: Drying ShoreBags in the dryer can damage attachments such as leather straps, zippers and other adhesives if used.

We want to thank our customers who trust us enough to come back and ask how they can get the most out of their favorite tote. Please reach out to us anytime with questions at info@shorebags.com
